Public Policy Committee

Too often, politics becomes a contest of powerful interests, partisan attacks, sound bites, and media hype.  The Catholic Church calls for a different kind of political engagement: one shaped by the moral convictions of well-formed consciences and focused on the dignity of every human being, the pursuit of the common good, and the protection of the weak and the vulnerable.

We seek to advance the common good by defending the inviolable sanctity of human life from the moment of conception until natural death, by defending marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and by protecting the environment.

The moral imperative to respond to the needs of our neighbors – basic needs such as food, shelter, health care, education, and meaningful work with a living wage – is universally binding on our consciences.
