TALKING POINTS ON FY’07 FEDERAL BUDGET
Title II-D
Eliminating
this program harms the ability of our students to compete in the current
technological society.
Retraining
student in technology costs business and industry dollars which they will pass
along to consumers in the form of higher prices.
Most
of this money is aimed at urban public and nonpublic schools which most need
the technology.
Provide
instances of how this money has been utilized in your own school community.
Title IV
These
funds have been used for school safety measures (particularly in light of
9-11), as well as student health services and drug, alcohol, and tobacco
prevention programs.
Many
of our school use the services of Catholic Charities to provide these services.
Describe
how the program has been used in your particular school setting.
Title V-A
This
source of funding, called Innovative Programs, provides flexibility for
individual public and nonpublic schools to address unique needs of their
student population.
This
program has been the largest single source of equitable participation by
nonpublic school students in the past.
Describe
how your school has used these funds (formerly known as Chapter 2 Block Grants)
in the past.
GENERAL MESSAGE: The federal investment in education should not be reduced/eliminated to achieve a balanced budget or to eradicate the deficit.
