ISSUE: Congress is considering the reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Education Act. We have the possibility of equitable participation for nonpublic school pupils in the House version of the act (H.R.366).

POSITION: The New Jersey Catholic Conference and the New Jersey Network for Catholic School Families strongly encourages active participation in this effort. However, individual messages (through E-mail or telephone) are always better options.

ACTION: Based on your preference, E-mail, fax, or telephone the office of your member of the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as the offices of Senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, regarding the importance of the equitable participation of nonpublic school students in the reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Education Act. Stress that equitability is consistent with our students’ participation in No Child Left Behind and IDEIA legislation.
