Interfaith Prayer Vigil

Monday, June 13 at Noon

On the steps of the Statehouse, Trenton

A Time for Justice…

And Prayer

Please join a gathering of committed individuals from many different faith traditions united in prayer for the poor and vulnerable residents of New Jersey.

Among those leading us in prayer for a just budget for the State of New Jersey:

Rev. Joseph Kukura, Chair, Catholic Coalition for a Just Budget

Rev. Bruce Davidson, Lutheran Office of Governmental Ministries

Rev. Daryl Armstrong, Shiloh Baptist Church, Trenton

Rev. Karen Hernandez-Granzen, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Trenton

Rev. Joyce Emery, Executive Director, New Brunswick Presbytery

If you are unable to participate in person, please join us in prayer beginning at noon on June 13th wherever you are. And let Governor Codey know you are part of this effort to pray that lawmakers find a way to make our state budget a moral document that is not balanced on the backs of the poor and protects our most vulnerable residents.

Fill out, put in an envelope and affix postage to the message below and send to Governor Codey, PO Box 001, State House, Trenton, New Jersey, 08625.  Thank you!

Call the Catholic Coalition for a Just Budget if you have questions or need directions:

(609) 599-2110 and ask for Marlene Lao-Collins.

Dear Governor Codey:

I am joining my brothers and sisters across New Jersey on June 13, 2005 in prayer that you and the New Jersey State Legislature find a just and sustainable way to:

*      Provide adequate funding for Family Care and Charity Care

*      Provide $50 million for rental assistance vouchers

*      Provide a 3.3% increase this year and annual indexing  toward the cost of providing care

Sincerely,
